The Box 5.0

The choreographic platform The Box, produced by HKSDDA, dedicated to the development of hip hop theatre was set up in 2018 with continuous support by Hong Kong Arts Development Council. Since then, it has opened up a dialogue about the boundary of hip hop in terms of its artistic presentation. In 2023, the platform started extending this by inviting overseas crews for performances. In this The Box 5.0, not only will three hip hop choreographers come together with new insights on the artistry of local street dance, but also an internationally renowned French-based hip hop choreographer Olé Khamchanla will bring his 30-minute touring piece Intrusion Chorégraphique to work with local street dancers. Olé's works are renowned for the hip hop energies with his unique, powerful, and poetic vocabulary forged from contemporary and traditional dances from Thailand and Laos where he comes from.

Intrusion Chorégraphique, created in 2020, is a piece performed in situ, where dancers adapt to their environment, interact with the audience, and create a new dimension in multiple living spaces.

Producer: Elaine YL Lam

Choreographer: Pang Chun, Suen Nam, Victor Deng and Ole Khamchanla
