LUXURY DECOR BRAND LALA CURIO TO OPEN FLAGSHIP IN THE PENINSULA HONG KONG DURING FRENCH MAY

LALA CURIO’s new flagship boutique will unveil exclusive collaborations with Yves Delorme Paris and Marie Daâge at Grand Opening Celebration during French May

HONG KONG (MAY 9, 2025) - Couture wallpaper and decor brand, LALA CURIO, is excited to announce the grand opening of their eagerly anticipated flagship showroom and boutique in Hong Kong’s iconic hotel, The Peninsula. LALA CURIO is known for exceptional artistry which celebrates ancient crafts reinvented with a whimsical flair.

LALA CURIO showroom grand opening will coincide with the French May Arts Festival. Founder, Laura Cheung Wolf, is thrilled to announce new collaborations with storied French couture brands, Yves Delorme Paris bedding and Marie Daâge porcelain, two exceptional world renowned homeware brands that resonate with impeccable craftsmanship á la main.

Yves Delorme is a storied luxury linens House founded in France in 1845 by pioneer Ernestine Fremaux and her husband in the Hauts-de-France region. Yves Delorme works with the most skilled artisans in engraving, embroidery and weaving within specialized studios in Nieppe and Sevelinges, in France. Yves Delorme is invested as a member of the Comité Colbert, in order to promote its savoir-faire and French art de vivre. The House is also recognized by the French government as an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, or Company of Living Patrimony, rendering homage to the highest quality in manufacturing, source of an authentic savoir-faire, rare and mastered for almost 180 years. Among its artisans, the House is honored to count two Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres, the highest honor bestowed by the Ministry of Culture, as an acknowledgement of their precious savoir-faire as well as their capacity to transmit and preserve it.

This is a continuation of the collaboration between LALA CURIO and Yves Delorme, the brands partnered together on a hand painted and embroidered wallpaper series inspired by the lightness of feathers and the comfort of luxurious bedding that brings you on Cloud Nine. Along with wallpaper and bedding, the brands will be offering luxurious upholstered headboards to completely envelope a primary suite in luxury.

In addition to Yves Dolorme, LALA CURIO is excited to announce a new partnership with French Maison of Haute porcelaine, Marie Daâge. The brands were introduced during Paris Deco Off and Laura was immediately intrigued by the synergies she saw between the tableware and her own decorative arts brand. Marie Daâge blends centuries-old craftsmanship with contemporary creativity to offer bespoke sets of entirely hand-painted porcelain meant to transform the dining experience into a form of personal artistic expression.

Maison Marie Daâge traces its roots to the great French porcelain manufactories, whose rise in the 18th century contributed to the prestige of the french art de vivre at a time when the French court was the epicenter of European luxury. Much like LALA CURIO, Marie Daâge's collections particularly require virtuosity from the painters, who paint entirely freehand. The style of the Maison lies in the subtle movement of the brushstrokes, which create the vibrancy of the design and the depth of the colors.

In recognition of her efforts, Marie Daâge received the insignia of Chevalier de l’Ordre de la Légion d’Honneur in 2012. The distinction, delivered by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, acknowledged her contribution to the international promotion of French culture and decorative arts. The award was presented by Michelin-starred chef Guy Martin at the historic Grand Véfour in Paris, underscoring her role in promoting a living French heritage.

LALA CURIO x Marie Daâge will debut a special collection Feuillage, celebrating nature’s biodiversity and exquisite hand-painted works of art: 2000 year old Gong-bi painting from China on silk wallpaper and free-hand art-de-vivre handpainted French porcelain. This dinnerware collection is made for a Chinese dinner setting, a harmonious blend of the two cultures, celebrating creativity, refinement and centuries-old crafts.

Juxtaposed against this special dinnerware collection, we are dressing our walls in Feuillage in full embroidery on sisal, with raffia, wooden beads and silk threadwork embracing natural materials, the panels took 2000 hours to embroider. A handpainted version on wood veneer will drape the table to accompany the precious porcelain pieces.

Of these collaborations, Cheung Wolf notes, “My appreciation for French couture and artistry runs deep, the French appreciate true craftsmanship in a similar way to the artists I work with in China who also pass on their traditions in decorative arts down through generations. French May is an event I look forward to in Hong Kong each year and I am so pleased to be able to show Hong Kong customers and travelers these special French brands in my new boutique to broaden their audience in Asia.”

The showroom and retail space will be open to the public to view these new collaborations and for designers by appointment for specialized services which will be accompanied by an experiential traditional Chinese tea ceremony.
