Online Series: East Meets West in Cultural Exchange –
Interview with Antoine Richard and Chun-Wing Lam
Two artists from different disciplines — Antoine Richard and Chun-Wing Lam — one traveling from Hong Kong to France, while another makes the journey from France to Hong Kong. What factors motivate them to traverse over nine thousand kilometres in pursuit of their dreams? Amid the exchanges between the Eastern and Western culture, what new imagination and inspirations do they discover on their artistic journeys?
Antoine is a guitarist and singer from Nantes, France, whose dream is to travel around the globe. He performs a diverse repertoire ranging from jazz and gypsy classics to traditional French tunes, with musical influences deriving from swing and gypsy jazz. He spent 11 years in Hong Kong, where he organised a dance festival, and also appeared at around 800 performances in the regions nearby.
Chun-Wing is a renowned ballet dancer born in Hong Kong. He received full-time ballet training in Paris at the age of 14 and later became the first Chinese to join the Paris Opera Ballet. Currently a sujet (soloist) with the company, he has appeared in numerous classical ballets and worked with some of today’s most respected contemporary choreographers like William Forsythe and Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker.
